Humla Limi Valley to Mount Kailash Trek

Overview

Mt. Kailash Trek via Limi Valley is one of the most interesting treks ever in Nepal. This trek takes you through Humla’s snow-capped mountains, lush valleys, a unique Trans-Himalayan plateau, rocky cliffs, quiet lakes, long, streaming rivers and an abundance of wildlife. This trek combines the Nepalese Western Himalayas with the Tibetan plateau. Simikot is the gateway to Mt. Kailash. The trail leads along the mighty Karnali River until reaching Kermi. Then from Tsongsa, we enter the Limi valley, crossing Nyalo pass (5000m). Limi Valley is a hidden Himalayan valley where three beautiful villages, Till, Halji, and Tsang, are tucked in the lap of the Himalayas. In Halji village is home to the oldest monastery, Rinchenling Gompa. The Gompa was constructed by a Tibetan Buddhist, Rinchen Zangbo, in the 10th Century AD with support from a Malla King of Sinja.

After witnessing the Limi valleys’ scenic and cultural beauty, we further continue to the Hilsa border (a Nepal-China border post). Doing the immigration check, we enter the Chinese autonomous region of Tibet (Xizang). For a few days, rolling in the high-altitude four-wheel driving leads beneath the sky and to the amazing and sacred Manasrovar Lake, then to Darchen.

From Darchen, we continue to Diraphug and cross the highest point of the trek, Dolma La, 5660m, and descend to the Zutulphuk and then drive down to Paryang and Kyirong to Kathmandu.
