Trip Introduction

Manaslu circuit trek is one of the most exceptional treks of Nepal Himalaya, closest mountain adventure to Kathmandu. Mt. Manaslu is the eighth highest graceful mountain of the globe flanked to the east of Ganesh Himal and west of Annapurna. The kaleidoscope of the colors, vegetation, landscape, and climates found during Manaslu Circuit trek will be etched into the memory forever.

A remote and rugged, physically demanding Manslu Circuit trek offers the sensational mountain vistas, unworldly landscape, culturally enriching and scenically amazing. Manaslu Circuit trek leads across lush foothills ridge and down into the valley of Budi Gandaki with their terraces of rice, and millet then roughly northward through that valley, tucked against the outline of Ganesh Himal and into the series of gorges.

Encroaching on the forest at the foothill of moraines, Syala seems to be embraced by a huge amphitheater of peaks, while Samagaon lies at the foot of Manaslu. On a rise just above Samagaon stands a great Buddhist Gompa surrounded by the collection of low buildings is the houses of monks and nuns.

From the Samagaon a half day’s trek leads to the highest village in the Budi Gandaki valley is Samdo. After the Samdo, the trail switches to westward up a major subsidiary Glen to gain Larkya La 5160m. It then plunges steeply in the full view of Choe Himal, Himlung Himal, Kang Guru and with the occasional view glimpse of Annapurna summits above the vast walling crest, to the flat meadowland of Bhimtang. Bhimtang is flanked on one side by an extensive glacial moraine, on the other side by birch-clad mountain slopes.

Leaving the Bhimtang the Manaslu Circuit Trek continues along the banks of Dudh Khola, the milky river that spills into the Marsynagdi at Dharapani on the Annapurna Circuit. Now the trek crosses and re-crosses the Marsyangdi on the trail shared with trekkers heading up the valley towards Manang. We go down the alley to the Tal through Gho, Tiliji, Dharapani and Dharapani and drive back to Kathmandu.
