Jumla is an ancient capital of Malla Dynasty and middle hill district of western Nepal. Jumla is hidden away in the foothills of Sisne Himalaya is the gateway to our Jumla Jomsom trek. Hinduism and Shamanism are most dominated religion in the Jumla.

Mugu is home to Rara National Park and the largest lake of Nepal ‘Rara Lake’. Trekking along the Mugu area we witness mix culture of Khas Hinduism and Bhotiya Buddhism.

Dolpo, synonymously known as ‘be yul’ ‘the Hidden Land’ blessed by a great magician and founder of Tibetan Buddhism ‘Guru Rinpoche’,  is guarded by the high passes and mountains to the east, west, and south, bordering with Tibet to the North, the one of the most remote and sparsely populated region of Nepal. Closed until 1989, Dolpo is home to trans-Himalayan national park ‘Shey Phoksundo National park’, Phoksundo Lake, sacred mountains, sculpted gorges, jagged rocks, and rugged river valley, many species of flora and fauna, and friendly people.

Jumla Jomsom Trek GHT high route kicks up after a scenic mountain flight to Jumla from Nepalgunj. Then it leads through the forested vegetation of Danphe Lagna, Chautha, Dotu to Rara Lake. After the Rara lake descends to Mugu Karnali River via Gamgadi. For few days we follow Mugu Karnali river valley up to Shailenchaur/Maile. Hereafter, the trails continue through the wild and beautiful pastureland of alpine valleys crossing Chyargo La pass, Yala Pass and Nyima Gyalzen La to Phopa village of Upper Dolpo.

Encountering the high passes of Upper Dolpo and rolling into the hidden beautiful hamlets, we engage about two weeks across the Upper Dolpo trek and we visit some of the ancient 800 -1000 years old Bon and Buddhist monasteries.  Our Upper Dolpo trek part passes through Nakhong valley, Panzang valley and to Chharka valley.
