Upper Dolpo Rara Trek via Shey Gompa caters the unique and extraordinary journey to foothills of Himalaya. A month long trekking in Dolpo begins from Lower Dolpo and immerses in to deeper and deeper high land of Upper Dolpo and connects to the north, near the Tibetan border and unknown mountains.
Upper Dolpo to Rara trek is an adventurous journey is kicks up with a scenic mountain flight to Dolpo from humid and hot Nepalgunj city.
Along the lush vegetation of Shey Phoksundo National Park and Suligad River, the journey is welcome first few days by an amazing Phoksundo Lake and beautiful Ringmo Bon village.

Through the balcony of Phoksundo Lake, ascending Phoksundo Ridge 4000m and camp at North Bank of Phoksundo Lake.
Kang La 5360m -the first high pass and gateway of Upper Dolpo allow us to enter to the Upper Dolpo. Upper Dolpo is the place, isolated from the world, relying on the wild barren landscape and sparsely populated.

Beyond the Shey Gompa the trail sinking into the deeper and deeper remote villages of Upper Dolpo such as Shyamling, Bhijer, Saldang, Karang, Marang, Nisal Yanjer Gompa.
We visit the Bon and Buddhist monasteries and experience the better essence of places and culture.
Another part of the journey begins, to the last fortified and Dolpo frontier villages Kuwa and Pho.

From Kuwa village the trail approaching to the North forgotten village Pho.
Pho village is located at the end of the world in between Dolpo and Mugu, at the foothill of Kanjiruwa massif and Tibetan border.The village is just like a forgotten beyond the world, with only a few fields and tough subsistence.
Leaving the Pho village, the another story of journey connects Chyandi Khola via Pung Kharka crossing Nyingma Gyalzen La 5563m, Yala 5414m and Chyare La 5150m.In this part of the trail is totally like unknown and uncertain wilder

After the Chyandi Khola the trail bend to west along the Mugu Karnali River and through Shailen Kharka, Tiyar Gompa, Mangri, Gamgadi to Rara Lake.
A day exploring around Rara Lake and visiting Murma Top finally we end trek at Talcha Airport.
Physical Requirement or Level of Participants:
- A very good physical condition is needed for this trip as we encountered with six 5000 plus high passes.
- A good dose of patience, tolerance, and humor.
- An experience or familiar with an altitude of Himalaya.
